Binded Wings

Description

Like a tethered bird,
Flight is impossible,
Your grasp unbreakable.

You try to spread your wings,
Hoping to reach the sky
And touch the clouds that hang above you.
But no, you are shackled to what it is,
The realization you are a prisoner to your own wish,
Your own will to say, "I can't do this!"
Those heavy chains wear you down,
And there was no lock to liberate you
From those that want to become the
Burden that you call "fear."

All you can do is just spread your wings...
Look up at the sky...
And sigh.

I am so proud of this piece, that I truly deserve a pat on the back. I became highly inspired by Goth Boy's words after the Skyheroes mission "But Vanish From Those Around." What he said is bolded. If you didn't notice it first-hand, I'll repeat it again. "Like a tethered bird, flight is impossible, your grasp unbreakable."

Tethered means to be binded or shackled, so this got me really digging deep into this artwork.

Since Goth Boy was the one who said it, I thought I use him...in his Skyheroes outfit. With wings. With chains weighing down the wings. WHAT ELSE CAN GO WRONG!?

I had a terribly hard time drawing the clothes (the hat was the worst), and the chains were my worst nightmare. I hate drawing chains with a lot of "passion," but I had to do it for the sake of the image. Coloring was no pain, and I just did a lazy background (explaining why most of Goth Boy's front is not shaded.)

Where's his face piercing? I don't do piercings, so I decided not to draw it.

This took three days to finish, where the drawing took up the most amount of time than coloring (quick coloring).

Hope you enjoy!
